Inventory Compliance Controller

Purpose of the Job

Administratively prepare and assist with auditing the inventory nationally in line with the Value & VCL procedures within the operation. Ensuring administratively all reporting and scheduling is standardised and updated. Assist with additional training with the operations team where needed.

Key Responsibilities 


  • Assist in daily, weekly, and monthly reporting on inventory accuracies for the month, quarter, and year.
  • Understand and know how to use the various systems in the business.
  • Assist in pulling the required reporting from the relevant system to be used during the audit process.
  • Assist in managing all Inventory-related reporting in conjunction with the relevant warehouse managers and the national inventory compliance manager for ease of communication with business regarding queries identified during an audit.
  • Consolidate the administrative packs for each audit, including claims pending and concluded for the required period.
  • Pull the reports per BU on all NCRs/NCPs/IOs raised, ensure all required issues and concerns have been raised via this process, and escalate to the relevant warehouse manager if any are not done.


  • Pull the necessary reports to validate the correct positioning of the stock in the warehouses
  • Assist in auditing optimal storage of stock through maximum utilisation of space (ABC)
  • Assist in pulling the required reports and comparisons to confirm consolidation of pallets in the replenishment areas are done to improve utilisation
  • Assist in conducting spot checks on bin locations to ensure bin accuracy
  • Assist in auditing that a sample of units is tested to validate if units of measure are correct, understood, and applied. If additional training is required, ensure this is escalated to the relevant manager

Master Data and WMS

  • Assist in auditing the master data (product master) to ensure it is maintained and managed in all operations for the purpose of accurate inventory levels
  • Pull the required reports to validate that the setup of the WMS is correct to align with product requirements as per the master data and receipt, storage, inspection, picking and returning requirements of Value and the customer
  • Audit user profiles at an inventory level to ensure the operational teams have the correct access to complete their daily functions correctly and accurately

Book-to-Book, Cycle Counts and Stock Takes

  • Compile the reporting on all client book-to-books are carried out as per the required frequency and that all variances are investigated and resolved timeously
  • Compile the required reporting on the operational cycle count plans that they are in place based on product type, customer requirements, Value requirements and risk factors
  • Compile the daily reporting on operational cycle counts that were carried out daily as required to maintain high stock accuracy levels
  • Compile a report per BU on empty bin checks that are carried out daily, and confirm the necessary NCP or NCR is raised for stock found
  • Assist in preparing the audit pack for the stock take preparations, process and conclusion and sign off
  • Prepare the standardised cycle count and stock take results for reporting to senior management
  • Assist in auditing all inventory records that are correctly filed and easily accessible should they be required (Stocktake, cycle counts, inventory investigations, etc.)


  • Assist in preparing the reporting fort daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports are completed and provided to the relevant management
  • Reporting on outcomes and closures of all findings and sharing the necessary with the senior management team for sign-off
  • Assist in preparing the completed audit packs per client for submission after each client’s audit
 Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Logistics/warehouse/business management diploma/degree beneficial
  • 5 years of experience in the logistics/warehouse industry with inventory management roles and responsibilities for at least 3 of the 5 years
