Purpose of the Job
The Warehouse Operations Manager holds full responsibility for all warehouse operations, including staff management and oversight of receiving, dispatch, picking, packing, and logistics. The role is accountable for every aspect of warehouse performance, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and risk management standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all operational procedures across the warehouse
- Lead and manage staff, including timekeeping, scheduling, discipline, and performance management
- Maintain a high standard of customer service
- Direct sub-departments such as Receiving, Dispatch, Administration, Warehouse Safety, Picking, Packing, and Distribution
- Manage warehouse assets and control expenses within budget, including repairs, maintenance, overtime, and consumables
- Drive operational efficiencies and process improvements
- Ensure timely completion of tasks to meet customer demand, delivery schedules, and operational cycles
- Manage stock, including monthly stock takes and inventory accuracy
- Compile and present warehouse and staff performance reports
- Build and maintain a positive warehouse culture
- Oversee financial management aspects of the warehouse
- Mitigate operational risks, including shrinkage and damages
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Warehousing, or Business Management
- Minimum 10 years’ management experience in the warehouse/logistics industry
